TT Games’ latest installment in their long-standing Lego video game franchise is Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2, the long-awaited sequel to 2013’s Lego Marvel Super Heroes and spiritual successor to Lego Marvel’s Avengers released in 2016. Before their panel at New York Comic Con, a few of the creative team behind the game sat down to talk about the development of the game and reveal some new information.

First up was a discussion with Marvel games’ executive creative director Bill Rosemann and comic book writer Kurt Busiek. A prolific veteran of the comics industry who has worked for both DC and Marvel as well as several independent imprints, Busiek is known best for his comic Astro City, as well as his runs as writer for The Avengers and Iron Man in the late 90s and early 2000s. As Rosemann explained, Busiek was originally consulted due to having penned two stories involving Kang that were influential when the team was first drafting the story for Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2, and he eventually grew to take a greater role in the development of the game. Busiek talked about his experience coming into game development from an outsider’s perspective and how that affected his ideas, bringing a fresh perspective and suggestions that weren’t thought of by industry veterans. Rosemann’s enthusiasm for the game was contagious as he talked about the scope of the world and the time-traveling mechanics of the story, as well as the massive character roster included.

Next we sat down with Arthur Parsons, Head of Design of TT Games and Justin Ramsden, a designer for Lego to hear more about the development process as well as new information about the planned DLC and Season Pass to be released for the game.
