Warner Bros. announced today that a remastered collection of both LEGO: Harry Potter games will be coming out on October 18th of this year, but only on PlayStation 4. The collection will not only include both LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 and LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7, but two DLC packs for the game included on the disk as well.

The LEGO games have enjoyed both critical praise and commercial success for years now, and the LEGO Harry Potter games are no exception. Years 1-4 holds a metascore of 79 on Metacritic, and Years 5-7 has a slightly better score of 80. Meanwhile, the Harry Potter IP as a whole has done extraordinarily well over the years. According to the New York Times, the final installment in the mainline book series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, sold 8.3 million copies in the United States during its first 24 hours on sale. According to The Numbers, the Harry Potter movie franchise has become the second most profitable movie franchise of all time. So yeah, I think it's safe to say that Harry Potter is a pretty big deal.

The LEGO Harry Potter Collection isn't just a port of the two LEGO games as is; it's a remaster. That means the collection will come with enhanced graphics, environments, lighting, and visual effects. On top of that, 2 DLC packs will be included in the collection. The first is a character pack that will come with 10 new characters including the founders of each Hogwarts house, Peeves, and characters already in the game wearing different clothing. The second piece of DLC is a spell pack that will include five new spells.

The LEGO Harry Potter Collection is coming exclusively to the PlayStation 4 on October 18 of this year in North America. There is still no word on if/when the collection will be coming to other regions, and whether it will be coming to Xbox One at all. The suggested retail price for the game is $49.99.
