LEGO City Undercover

It seems like LEGO City Undercover is an absolute disaster on PC if the fan reaction has been any indication. The open world game that casts you as an undercover cop in the LEGO universe has been eagerly anticipated by fans of the franchise, who could previously only play LEGO City Undercover on last-gen consoles. This news got some traction because of this article by Rock Paper Shotgun.

So, what's wrong with it? Funnily enough, everything seems to be wrong. Here's a couple of the complaints levied against the game on its Steam Community page:

Disgruntled users took to the LEGO City Undercover store page on Steam to express their disbelief and annoyance with the current and widespread problems the game seems to be having. In addition to complaints, reviews are advising against buying the game, which released on Steam for $40.

LEGO City Undercover was developed by Traveller's Tales and published by Warner Bros. Interactive on current-gen consoles and PC. You would be forgiven for comparing this situation to the Batman: Arkham Knight PC port which was also published by Warner Bros.

We have contacted Warner Bros. Interactive as well as Traveller's Tales for a comment. We will update this article if and when we hear back from them.

Quick Take

This is unacceptable. A game that came out years ago on the previous generation of consoles should not have these performance problems on PC. Almost everything that should not be shipped in version 1.0 has been shipped with version 1.0. The $40 price tag is just an insulting cherry on top.

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
