Announced a few days before this year's E3, Legend of Legacy has always been an interesting title. From the creators of the SaGa franchise, and with talent such as Masashi Hamauzu on board, it has certainly been a title worth watching out for. Atlus USA are the ones bringing the title westward, and as is characteristic of the company, the title will receive a goodies-filled launch edition.

Included in Legend of Legacy's first print run of the game are a soundtrack CD, a hardcover 40pg. artbook, and the game itself - all in a special collector's box. The soundtrack CD promises to include more than a samplings of music - including 10 tracks from the aforementioned Masashi Hamauzu, while the artbook will include 40 pages of full-color concept art and commentary by the game's character art director Tomomi Kobayashi.

All of this comes, again, in the standard launch edition of the game - not as a separate limited edition release. In other words, $40 will get you both the game AND the goodies - which is sure to excite anyone that has been eagerly awaiting the game's October 13th release.

Quick Take

Atlus has been known for including various goodies with their games for a long time - so it's no big surprise that the same has happened here for Legend of Legacy. What IS surprising is the sheer magnitude of the pack ins. Most of the time their pack ins have been smaller scale - audio CDs holding 4-5 tracks, 12 page softcover artbook - but to see them going all out on just the standard version of Legend of Legacy is interesting. From what I played of the game at E3 I was already interested - and I'm personally looking forward to it even more now.
