Cadence Of Hyrule was first announced during the Nindies Spring Showcase in March earlier this year. The full official title of the game being Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer Featuring the Legend of Zelda, just for extra emphasis, which makes it a crossover title with the highly successful rhythm roguelike Crypt of the NecroDancer (Our Review). The announcement originally set a release window for Spring this year. Now fans have uncovered a leak from Nintendo of America's website. If you browse the game's page on the site and check the source code, you'll find the following information available:
As you can see, the source code says the release date is set for May 30, 2019. It doesn't seem likely that this is a placeholder either, as it will still be Spring by the time it releases but it is possible that it is older code that wasn't ever updated or changed at some point. There's also been a report from Nintendo Life where a Nintendo newsletter suggested the game would release in May. All evidence points to the release date being correct.
You can see the original reveal trailer for the game below. It's being developed by the same studio that developed Crypt of the NecroDancer, Brace Yourself Games, and it seems like a pretty cool mashup of games and gameplay styles that should appeal to both Nintendo fans, fans of NecroDancer, and roguelike gamers in general. The pixel art looks pretty cute, and the atmosphere has a bit of that A Link to the Past style, which is pretty great.
