Lawbreakers Fast Moving Blur

In a statement released today, Boss Key Productions has announced that they will be moving on from LawBreakers. LawBreakers will continue to be supported in its current state for now, but Boss Key is setting their sights elsewhere on a new project.

According to the statement, the reason they are moving on from the project is one that they admit is a surprise to no one, "The fact is LawBreakers failed to find enough of an audience to generate the funds necessary to keep it sustained in the manner we had originally planned for and anticipated."

Our own review argued that LawBreakers was a great game, but for whatever reason, it failed to resonate with enough people. The low player count has been LawBreakers' biggest issue and has plagued it since release.

The statement also noted that LawBreakers would not be making the move to free-to-play because making that change "takes publishing planning and resources to do it."

Following that, the statement says something seemingly contradictory in that Boss Key is determined to give LawBreakers a second life. So there still may be a future for LawBreakers somewhere, but Boss Key has to turn their attention to something else in the meantime and not "sit idle."

As of now, Boss Key has already started on their next project. They have not released any details on what that may be or what they want it to look like, but they will certainly let us know when there is more to tell.

We have reached out to Boss Key for comment and will update this story if we learn more.

Do you think it would be worth it for Boss Key to spend the resources to make the game free to play? If you play the game, do you plan on continuing to do so? What do you hope happens to the game in the future? Let us know in the comments below!
