Koei Tecmo has announced that the sequel to Omega Force's 2016 action game Attack on Titan is set for release in early 2018. According to comments obtained from Koei Tecmo COO Hisashi Koinuma in this Dualshockers article Attack on Titan 2 will be coming to PS4 and Xbox One, with enhanced versions for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. To celebrate the Attack on Titan 2 announcement, the publisher has released a teaser video showing scenes from the anime series of the same name (or to give it its original Japanese title, Shingeki No Kyojin) which inspires the titles recreated in the in-game engine.
Not much is known about the title at this time and Koei Tecmo has confirmed they will be revealing more about the game's narrative, platforms. and release window at a later date. The teaser trailer appears to be recreating scenes from the recent second season of the Attack on Titan anime, leading to speculation that the plot may be based on those events. The original title featured a mix of authentically recreated scenes and original narrative, so it's possible we'll see a similar situation with the sequel.
As for what has been confirmed about Attack on Titan 2, the publisher has said that the sequel builds on the fast paced action of the original. The game will once again put players in control of the omnidirectional maneuver gear, defeating Titans while zipping through the air above the map. The sequel will also feature an "abundance of new gameplay mechanics." The recent comments given to Dualshockers indicate that platforms will be finalized around October/November when the developer will be ready to show the game to the public. COO Koinuma would not rule out a Nintendo Switch version of the game at this stage.
