Classically-styled role-playing game Knights of Tartarus will be leaving Steam Early Access in just a few short weeks! This is the first commercial title on Steam by indie developer StelloHexis and it's shaping up to be something pretty interesting. A combination of classic The Legend of Zelda gameplay along with more traditional role-playing game mechanics may very well make for an interesting mashup!

There are more than a few games in this style out there today, so go ahead and check out the Knights of Tartarus Gameplay Trailer to see if it's the sort of thing you like:

The announcement was made via the game's Steam Community page and in a press release. In Knights of Tartarus, players take on a somewhat unusual role of a hero who needs help from monsters to defeat the knights rather than the other way around. Ultimately, you're trying to take down the titular knights, but it's not something you can do on your own. You'll need to explore the game's open world, learn new spells, and acquire sweet loot. As players progress, they'll also level up and be able to enhance their character's attributes like many other games in the role-playing genre.

What makes Knights of Tartarus interesting is the way it combines mechanics from several other franchises. Add an open world from pretty much every RPG ever, a move-stealing mechanic a la Megaman, and just a dash of exploring dungeons using special tools like The Legend of Zelda and you have what looks like a fine game.

If you're hankering for some classic RPG action, you'll be able to get your hands on Knights of Tartarus pretty soon—it leaves Steam Early Access on April 19, 2019. You'll be able to pick it up for yourself on Steam and on Itch. No price has been announced, but the Steam Early Access version is currently sitting at $12.99 so you should expect it to be in that neighborhood.

Will you grab Knights of Tartarus when it leaves Steam Early Access? What do you think of the game overall? Let us know in the comments below!
