While most of the announcements in the Kinda Funny Games Showcase were release dates or updates on existing games, a few new games were announced. One of these games was Vane, a beautiful looking exploration game that will be coming exclusively to the PlayStation 4.

The trailer doesn't give too much away, but we do get a glimpse into the world. We get to see a child walking across a vast desert, with mysterious and ruined buildings populating it. A tower seems to create itself out of thin air in front of the kid, while we get a few birds eye views from a crow. Later in the trailer we see a group of children working together to push around a giant ball, a pathway being created by a device a child is holding, and a mechanical monster attempting to capture said child. The trailer ends with the kid jumping off a ledge and transforming into a bird mid-jump.

While it doesn't tell us that much about the game, art director Rasmus Deguchi did have this to say about it. "With Vane, we wanted to make a game that emphasizes mood and atmosphere over more conventional mechanics. While loosely inspired by titles like Journey and Ico, we wanted to make something different. A little more unsettling. A little more surprising. A little more primal. It’s been a long and wild journey making Vaneand we can’t wait for the world to experience what we’ve cooked up!”

Vane will be launching January 15th exclusively on PlayStation 4 for the price of $24.99.
