Thirteen years after its initial launch, Suda51’s beloved action-adventure title killer7 is making its way to Steam with a newly rendered high-definition finish. Previously exclusive to GameCube and PlayStation 2, the cult classic gore-filled adventure has been eagerly sought out for rerelease ever since its initial boost to international fame and recognition.
Players adopt the role of Harman Smith, a man fueled by revenge in a dark world of underground assassins. With his ability to manifest 7 individual deadly personalities into the real world, he must take control over the deadly suicide bombers known as “Heaven Smile.”
These personalities, known as the killer7, each contain distinct appearances, personalities, weapons of choice, and a special ability. The dense puzzles in the world may be solved by utilizing your full host of killer7 abilities as they reveal secrets of the world collectively. Switch between personalities at will to tackle an encounter, or stick with the one you feel best compliments your play-style. With a polished finish and optimized gameplay suitable for PC, you’ll be able to experience the same vibrant story with modern mechanics.
In putting an end to Heaven Smile, you’ll be propelled in and out of the consciousness of one man. Between the dark imagery and cel-shaded graphics, the complex story delves into the catastrophes that plague the world by the hand of a single organized group. The plot must be followed intently to unravel the macabre tale of revenge and will be presented between face-offs that adopt a unique combination of first and third-person shooter mechanics. The sole mode of your adversaries involves nearing targets to immediately self-detonate, often utilizing urban camouflage that makes them very difficult to spot. Initially brought by the power of gods, Heaven Smile aims to bring down the Federation of States at any cost, so it’s up to you to put an end to them.
While no set release date has been announced just yet, killer7 can be expected to arrive on Steam sometime this Fall. If this seems interesting, be sure to check out the announcement trailer below.
