Law enforcement officials contacted Kickstarter earlier this week and alerted them that hackers had gained access to customer information and some specific data. Kickstarter, upon receiving this information, closed the security breach and  began strengthening security throughout the entirety of the Kickstarter system.

Yancey Strickler, the CEO of the company, said that Kickstarter was attacked by hackers but no credit card data was accessed and recorded. The extent of the unauthorized activity attacked only two accounts.

Credit Cards aside, some emails, mailing addresses, and encrypted passwords were accessed. The precautions sent out by Kickstarter were to change all passwords and any other accounts that used the same password.

The ending statement assured contributors and users that all necessary precautions were being taken and that the company is working closely with law enforcement to apprehend the hackers responsible.

Kickstarter is one the of the most communal based companies in gaming. They provide many developers and players with the opportunity to create and support games that many Triple A developers will not support. Hope everything works out for all involved.
