Just Cause 3

Avalanche Studios announced a new patch for Just Cause 3 earlier today.  This new patch is aimed at fixing some stability issues, optimization, and some fixes to online features.  The patch will be coming to Europe first, and other consoles will be receiving updates in the next day or two.  PC players should be receiving the update on Friday.

The Just Cause 3 development team mentioned that player feedback was used to determine what fixes needed to happen first.

Since launch, we’ve been pouring through your reviews and comments to help us prioritise our fixes accordingly. We know many of you have been patiently awaiting today’s patch, and this update is part of a much larger plan to optimize and improve the game. Thanks for your patience here

The changes in patch 1.02 include:

  • Significantly improved loading times
  • Optimizations to online stats
  • General stability fixes
  • Fixed an issue related to challenges, wherein vehicles sometimes disappeared when starting a challenge
  • Fixed issues related to screen resizing and closing the game window before the game has fully started up [PC ONLY]

Avalanche Studios also took the time to clear up some other questions and concerns dealing with Just Cause 3.  These include the lack of a sprint and crouch button, which are both intentional design decisions to push players into using the many forms of mobility available.

Just Cause 3 is available for Xbox One, Playstation 4, and on PC through Steam.

Quick Take

It is always refreshing to see developers work on improving a game's performance post-release, even though in a perfect world these issues never would have been a problem to begin with.  Looking over Steam reviews, performance issues and load times seem to be the biggest complaints with Just Cause 3; here's hoping this patch actually provides the stability people need to play the game, instead of waiting.
