Joking Hazard, the party game from the creators of the Cyanide & Happiness webcomic franchise, has officially been released for sale. Having been successfully funded by a Kickstarter campaign earlier in the year, Joking Hazard is a playable version of the currently existing Random Comic Generator.

In this game, players create a three-panel comic using one card randomly drawn from the deck, one card chosen by that round's judge, and one card from each player's hand. The most terrible/funny comic is chosen by the judge, and the first player to reach a predetermined number of points (three in the Kickstarter introduction video) wins the game.

The base Joking Hazard set contains 350 cards and has an MSRP of $25, and the fifty-card "Blast From The Past" supplemental booster pack has an MSRP of $10. Readers can purchase Joking Hazard either directly from the Explosm store, or from the Amazon marketplace (affiliate link).

Quick Take

I was really excited when I first saw Joking Hazard on Kickstarter as I had a lot of fun making terrible comics with the Random Comic Generator, and Joking Hazard is essentially the same thing but in physical form. I'm very interested to see what how it compares to the Random Comic Generator, and what Cyanide & Happiness did to separate their game from similar, already existing party games such as Apples to Apples and Cards Against Humanity. This is definitely a game I'll be picking up and reviewing for the site.

What are your thoughts on Joking Hazard? Do you think it's an interesting rendition of similar party games such as Apples to Apples and Cards Against Humanity? If not, what could Cyanide & Happiness have done to improve on the formula? Let us know in the comment section below.
