Simulation driving game Jalopy has left Steam Early Access and released version 1.0 according to a news post on the game's Steam Community page.

Jalopy is a game that's all about driving. Unfortunately, the car you're driving - the fictional Laika 601 Deluxe - has all of the flaws one would expect from communist engineering. You're out to make your way across Europe despite your faithful Laika's best efforts to fall to pieces all around you. Have a look at the game's Launch Trailer to see what you can expect in the game:

Thankfully, your Laika isn't restricted to its stock parts. You can find upgrades for all of your vehicle's components in scrapyards, abandoned wrecks, or as purchasable items at Laika stores in the game's towns. You can upgrade the engine, carburetor, air filter, and a few other parts in a simplified car maintenance system. Tires can be swapped out to fit the road conditions, and you'll also have body upgrade options like roof & tool racks alongside custom paint jobs & decals.

Aside from the game's story, you'll also be able to explore the procedurally-generated countryside in search of wrecks or boxes of goods. You can fill your trunk up with cigarettes, wine, and other goods to sell for a profit at the next town over. Be careful when crossing the border, though - each of the game's countries has bans on certain goods and you'll end up with a fine if your car gets searched.

The Steam release brings trading cards and 19 different languages to the game. If Jalopy sounds like something you would enjoy, you can pick it up for yourself over on Steam. The game is currently discounted to $8.99 (40% off of its MSRP of $14.99) for the first week of the game's launch and you can also buy the soundtrack for a similar 40% discount at $3.59.
