Satirical point-and-click Irony Curtain will launch for PC on May 16th, developer Artifex Mundi has confirmed. Console versions of the game are still coming but have been delayed.

Irony Curtain takes place in an alternate reality version of the 1950s. Players control Evan, a low-ranking journalist caught up in an espionage stand-off between two major world powers (no prizes for guessing which nations they're based on). Evan must navigate the wacky world of communist nation Matryoshka while discovering the truth behind the agenda of the nation's mysterious Supreme Leader. Gameplay-wise, players can expect an adventure strongly influenced by LucasArts and Daedalic Entertainment point-and-click games. Artifex Mundi describes Irony Curtain as "better" than those games, with no dream-logic and no pixel hunting. Irony Curtain boasts 21 hand-drawn backdrops and "1,951 cleverly sneaked-in easter eggs". Some of the game's puzzles will be non-linear and will offer multiple solutions for players to find. All of this is wrapped up in a satirical Cold War-style setting with plenty of quirky characters. There's also a score from the composer for Layers of Fear and Kholat.

Irony Curtain will be released for PC on May 16th. Pre-orders via GOG.com are now open. Alternately, you can wishlist the game on Steam. Artifex Mundi's game will also be launching for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in the future. The devs say they always envisioned a simultaneous release. Bringing console versions up to snuff while still meeting the original deadline would mean punishingly excessive hours from which the devs wished to refrain. We don't know when the console versions will arrive, but any delay is worth it to save the dev team's sanity.
