Daedalic Games have announced a brand new strategic title with a twist: Iratus: Lord of the Dead. This upcoming strategy game has players taking on the role of a somewhat different style of protagonist. You are no hero. You're not even an antihero. You are an out and out bad guy, trapped by the forces of good and hellbent on raising your own hellish army to... do whatever stuff that bad guys usually do. Burn down hamlets, I guess?

A teaser trailer for Iratus has been released alongside the announcement for the game's release window. Have a gander at the dark powers that await you:

In Iratus: Lord of the Dead, you play the titular villain who has been wronged by the forces of good. You must beat the everloving heck out of your enemies, just like you'd expect from any other similar game. What's different is that you can then use the body parts of those enemies to increase your own powers and create even more fearsome foot soldiers.

Essentially, Iratus aims to be a mix of both Dungeon Keeper and Darkest Dungeon. That's not to say that it simply mashes those two games together into one package; it certainly brings plenty of its own original gameplay to the table. This game looks like it will shape up to be an interesting strategy game, especially for those of us who enjoy a darker sort of protagonist.

Iratus: Lord of the Dead will be coming to Steam Early Access sometime in May 2019 for a short testing period prior. The full release of the game will follow this Summer. In the meantime, you can add the game to your wishlist on Steam.
