There is going to to be an Intellivision E3 conference at next year's show. This announcement brings with it several questions, including "who" and "why". You might not know what Intellivision is, but they were a scrappy contender in the great console wars of yesteryear. They ultimately lost and faded away, but now they're coming back in a big way. So big, in fact, that the company is going to be hosting its own E3 conference next year.

If you are under the age of 35 or so, you probably have no idea what the heck Intellivision is. This console was produced from 1979–1990 and boasted 16-bit graphics and a strange controller with a number pad on it for some reason. It might sound a bit silly, but they moved over 3 million units worldwide and were a major competitor to Atari. That's pretty darn impressive for the 80s, especially when it cost $299. (For the sake of context, $299 in 1980 is equivalent to $929.27 today.)

"We're 16 months out. We're launching on 10-10, 2020, so our big E3 is next year, big booth with people playing 100 machines, and all that… Next E3 we're going to be blowing it out, and you're going to be like, ‘Oh my god.’ It’ll be mind-blowing. It’s something very, very excited. We’ll absolutely be doing an E3 press conference next year.

This isn't a Kickstarter project. This is the real deal. We have 600 years of video game experience on our core executive team. Six hundred years." — Intellivision President Tommy Tallarico

Now, Intellivision is coming back with the Intellivision Amica, a new miniature console that's intended to be easy for families to use. It's set to arrive in five distinct colors and the company is loaded for bear — they've just opened up new company offices in Europe. Now, they're going to be hosting an Intellivision E3 conference in 2020 as reported by Game Informer.

We can't exactly say what they are going to show at next year's Intellivision E3 conference; we do know that we'll get to see the Intellivision Amica in action along with the games it's going to have available, but what those games actually are will, for now, remain a mystery. I suppose we'll find out in a little less than a year!

What do you think of the Intellivision E3 conference that's going to take place in 2020? Do you think they'll be able to do well with their upcoming Intellivision Amica console? Let us know in the comments below!
