The Injustice 2 Championship Series has been announced by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Presented by PlayStation 4. Amateur and pro-gamers will be able to compete in the upcoming superhero fighting game from NetherRealm Studios for a piece of the series’ $600,000 prize pool. ESL, Gamelta esports Professional League, GameStop, PlayStation 4 and Twitch are all coming together to bring this championship series to competitive gamers around the world.

Four different tournaments have been announced for players from various regions. The top qualifying players from these programs will then go on to compete in the Injustice 2 Championship Series Grand Finals this fall. Tournaments will begin at the end of May and will continue throughout the summer for North America, Europe, and Latin America.

Starting May 26th the Injustice 2 Pro Series will challenge players from North America, Europe, and Latin America over four months of offline and online matches. The season will reveal the top 16 players of the series resulting in the Injustice 2 Pro Series Finals taking place on September 17th in Los Angeles. Viewers can tune into the events live via Twitch.

New on the eSports scene is the Injustice 2 GameStop Hometown Heroes tournament operated by ESL. This tournament is open to players in the United States that aren’t participating in the Pro Series and competitors can win cash prizes. Open online qualifying tournaments begin June 4th and those that make the cut will go on to one of eight Regional Finals tournaments on August 12th held at local GameStop retail locations. The best of the best from this tournament will be id to the Injustice 2 GameStop Hometown Heroes Finals at the 2017 GameStop Consumer Expo in Las Vega on August 27th.

The Injustice 2 Path to Pro Tournament will give European gamers not participating in the Pro Series a chance to get their cut of the prize pool. Also operated by ESL on the PS4 competitors from the Benelux Union, France, Germany, Nordic Territories, Italy, Spain and the UK can enter the competition on May 20th. 12 finalists will then move on to the Injustice 2 Path to Pro Finals on August 19th.

Latin American players from Argentina, Chile, Peru and Mexico will be able to compete in the Injustice 2 Liga Latina. Gamelta esports Professional League will operate online and offline qualifying tournaments starting in May for each region. Regional tournaments for Brazil are currently being organized and will have more details soon. Those that make it to the top in their country will compete in the Injustice 2 Liga Latina Finals on August 13th.

Injustice 2 launches on May 16, 2017, on PS4 and Xbox One giving players a small window to get familiar with the game before qualifiers for these tournaments begin. To learn more about the Injustice 2 Championship Series Presented by PlayStation 4 tournament check out the website here.
