Infamous Quests

Unfortunately, there is some sad news to share with all of our readers today. The independent gaming studio Infamous Quests - which has worked on titles such as Quest for Infamy and Order of the Thorne: The King's Challenge - will be shutting down.

The studio published this message on their website on July 18, 2016, apologizing for the lateness in getting backer rewards for their recent Kickstarter mailed out. In addition, they explained that after the release of Order of the Thorne: Fortress of Fire and Quest for Infamy: Roehm to Ruin, they will "most likely not be producing any more games". Infamous Quests cites the financial logistics of producing games in a heavily competitive market, and that they have been unable to sell enough copies to cover production costs and make employee payroll. Steven Alexander, who posted the update to the Infamous Quests website, thanks the studios many backers and supporters for helping them to publish their games.

Kickstarter backers should expect their packages between July 17, 2016, and mid-September, 2016. There is currently no set release date for Order of the Thorne: Fortress of Fire and Quest for Infamy: Roehm to Ruin, but the Infamous Quests website gives a mid-2016 release for Quest for Infamy: Roehm to Ruin.

Quick Take

It's always sad to hear about a studio having to close down due to financial difficulties. I've never played any of Infamous Quests titles, but I remember playing similar point and click adventures as a kid in the 1990s, so seeing that they made games similar to what I played tugs a nostalgic heart string. Hopefully, one day they'll be in a position to reenter the gaming industry.
