Indy PopCon had a lot of surprises in store for us, with a ton of companies and people that we didn't know we'd have the absolute pleasure of speaking with! Rick Baretto, the Founder of DreamAuthentics, took some time to talk with us about what they're doing to bring arcade gaming back for both the people at home and arcades. After playing some heated games of Killer Queen, we had a great chat, which you can see below!

For the short version, DreamAuthentics' webpage sums up what they do:

DreamAuthentics are high-quality, state-of-the-art, personalized video arcade cabinets, complete with classic arcade monitors; powerful, hi-end speakers; easy-to-use controls, and over 125 retro arcade games pre-loaded on an accessible Windows XP PC (so you can also load thousands of other games). In addition to video gaming, you can also: surf the Internet, play CDs on the jukebox, karaoke, and watch DVDs. With DreamAuthentics, you can even store, integrate and play today’s hottest game consoles like Wii, Xbox, Playstation, and Guitar Hero. Moreover, DreamAuthentics are stylized to your design preference: you can make it look anyway you like!

Outside of those custom cabinets, Rick has put together an all new cabinet for a game we played by the name of Killer Queen, which he hopes to roll out to arcades and bars over time. Daniel and I played it for 15 or so games, and if you ever see this game somewhere, we highly recommend you play it! With two teams of five on either side, players seek to beat the other team in 3 different ways - killing the queen multiple times, taking the snail at the bottom of the screen to the goal, or collecting berries for the hive! Players can choose which strategy to use against the other team, and have the option to transform their sprite into a damage dealing, winged character should they choose to duke it out with the other team! Keep an eye out for it!

If you're looking for a custom cabinet, or to put a bunch of retro games into one - DreamAuthentics is the company you should contact! Located in Indianapolis, Indiana since 2000 as well as being featured in GameInformer, MTV, and G4 - they have a great track record for excellent cabinets!
