While I was at PAX West, I stopped at the Ska Studios booth at the end of the day to chat with James and Michelle about Salt and Sanctuary, their other games, and what's next on the horizon for them. James and I ended up chatting more about board games, collecting miniatures, and custom Dungeons and Dragons campaigns instead, all while giving semi-helpful advice to the players who stopped by the booth to demo Salt and Sanctuary. Chatting James up was such a pleasant diversion from the typical coverage grind at conventions that I neglected to take notes while we were talking, even though he has great insight into game development, the indie scene, and what it's like to work with both Microsoft and Sony as an indie.

James and Michelle make up the entirety of Ska Studios, and I wanted to spend some time with them, picking their brains, in a more formal environment. Their volume of games, and the quality of those games—especially in their most recent release; Salt and Sanctuary—is astounding for a two person team, and the duo is very upfront and honest about not only the things that have helped them succeed, but also the things that they've struggled with, areas of improvement, and the things that they feel they've dropped the ball on. Listen to the full interview below.

If you haven't already played Salt and Sanctuary, I highly recommend it. I played through it on PC, and it is one of the best video games that I've played this year. If you want to know more about any of their games, hit up the Ska Studios website, and if you'd like to see Salt and Sanctuary in action, our very own Kevin Parsons has been playing the game on TechRaptor's Twitch channel.

What do you think about Salt and Sanctuary? Are you one of those gamers who is waiting to play the game on the Vita? Are you patiently waiting for a 3rd installment in the Dishwasher series? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
