Hyper Dimension Neptunia U Action Unleashed

Idea Factory International announced that Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed will release on Steam on March 21st. The hack and slash spinoff of their flagship Hyperdimension Neptunia series originally released last year in May on the PS Vita. We've known for a few months now that they had intended on releasing their recent spinoffs to Steam alongside Monster Monpiece, but we've only just now gotten the first release date. The latest arrival marks the fifth game Idea Factory has brought to Steam so far, with the sixth and seventh still pending release.

Idea Factory has already ported all of the PS Vita Neptunia Re;Birth remakes of the original PS3 Hyperdimension Neptunia games to Steam (speaking of which, all three are on sale on Steam until Friday, March 11th, if you have not checked your Midweek Madness sales yet) and even the PS3 game Fairy Fencer F.

Action Unleashed is not canon in Hyperdimension Neptunia's lore proper, but features all of the same characters. The personified video game consoles (particularly the seventh generation of consoles) in the form of Neptune, her sister Nepgear, Noire, her sister Uni, Blanc, her sisters Ram and Rom, and Vert find themselves in a state of boredom courtesy of a hard earned peace in the world of Gamindustri, with the only available things to do being random cleanup of the countryside when they aren't gaming with each other. Two game journalists, Dengekiko and Famitsu (who were also featured as caricatures you could get information from on the main map screens of the three Re;Birth games), charged with reporting all that happens in Gamindustri to the people, approach the goddesses for an interview. Intrigued, the goddesses accept, taking every moment they can to look better than the others.

Action Unleashed was developed by Tamsoft, who also developed the Senran Kagura series. Action Unleashed plays in a more action oriented hack and slash manner, where you chain combos against hordes of enemies. Owing to their Senran Kagura heritage, a clothes ripping system has been put in, where your chosen character's clothing will rip and tear if they take too much damage, causing their defense to plummet, so be sure you keep on the lookout!

The other Neptunia series spinoff title Hyperdevotion Nore: Goddess Black Heart, a strategy RPG, has yet to receive a Steam release date.

Action Unleashed's Steam port will feature enhanced graphics, as would be expected from a PC port. It is unknown if there will be a launch week discount as there has been for previous Idea Factory titles releasing on Steam, but if history has shown us one thing, the chances are favorable that it will.
