Hey, you! Yes; you! Do you remember how a month ago it was mentioned that some of Compile Heart's games were coming to Steam? Well; it looks like they weren't kidding, as the release date for the first Compile Heart game to hit the platform has been announced. HyperDimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 - the previously Vita exclusive remake to the original PS3 title - will launch on PC in 6 days, on January 28th.

Announced alongside the release date for the port was several bits of information regarding the game - including the minimum and recommended system specs, as well as details regarding the PC enhancements to the title. Graphics options are already confirmed, and in !f's own words; "Major graphical updates let you savor the true power of these Goddesses in 1080p!" - so it seems that extra resolution options will be available as well. Hopefully this also means that variable framerate will be supported; as one common complaint for titles using the Neptunia engine (including Fairy Fencer F, which we reviewed back in September) was that the titles tended to chug along at times, and dropped frames fairly often. However, the games should still run at a solid 30fps on most PCs if there is a cap, if the recommended specs are anything to go by.

This release follows in the footsteps of the overall trend in regards to jRPGs on Steam; but especially interesting to note is that this title will not only release the day after its sequel's Vita version will hit the market - but the price for the first week is especially noteworthy as well. The game will have been out on Vita for just a few days over 5 months once this port releases; but apparently the price for the game will be discounted to only $15 for the first week of launch, when the Vita version has only just dropped in price to $30 over the last few days! Anyway...

What do you think about Compile Heart's first efforts with the PC platform so far? Are they taking the right steps to propagate success? Do you think the game will find success on Steam?
