The popular bundle service Humble Bundle announced Thursday that they would be offering a monthly subscription service. Interested players can pay a monthly fee starting at $12 a month, and have games delivered to their email the first Friday of the month. To sweeten the deal, Humble Bundle is offering those who subscribe this month will receive a copy of Legend of Grimrock 2, in addition to the November bundle when it comes out next month. Legend of Grimrock 2 is what Humble Bundle refers to as the instant-access title. Every month will come with an instant-access title, which will be available to new subscribers the minute they sign up. The rest of the bundle, which is kept completely secret, will only be available if you sign up before they're released - about 11:00AM PST on the first Friday of each new month. All games will be available for Steam, and Humble clarifies will include titles which haven't already been featured in other bundles.

The model seems to take after the popular mystery box style, such as Loot Crate and Nerd Block, replacing physical items with digital games. The games are kept under wraps until their release, so each month subscribers don't know what they're going to get. Based on Humble Bundle's typical offerings, they are most likely going to be a decent quality. How many games will be offered, whether they will be offering larger titles or just indies, and other questions are yet to be answered (likely to keep up the mystery).

As normal, a portion of the proceeds for the monthly subscription will go to charity. The charitable portion of monthly subscriptions (about 5%) will be distributed through the PayPal Giving Fund, which will donate to the charity chosen by Humble Bundle. There does not seem to be the slider option available for players to designate how payment is split because charity and developer like with the regular Humble Indie Bundle. Humble Bundle maintains a database of charities which those using the Humble Store can choose from. Most likely, monthly charities will be taken from that list. Players can sign up now and will receive Legend of Grimrock 2 and the November bundle when it is released.
