If you’re down for a bit of classic Nintendo Hard gaming, you might be interested to hear that Humble Bundle is currently giving away X-COM: UFO Defense completely for free – no strings attached.

X-COM: UFO Defense (titled as UFO: Enemy Unknown outside of North America) is the original turn-based game of the X-COM series. Players take on the role of a worldwide defense force that’s fighting against an alien invasion through turn-based gameplay. The game has a particular reputation for being brutally unfair at times. The free copy of X-COM: UFO Defense is dispersed as a Steam key. At the time of writing, there’s a bit over 1 Day and 19 hours remaining to pick up the game.

The series has seen a revival in recent years with the release of XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2Related to this story is the fact that XCOM 2 is the featured game this month for Humble Monthly. There’s a little over three days remaining to sign up for the subscription service to snag XCOM 2 and other games for $12. Customers who sign up for the service will receive a digital key for the game to play immediately and $12 is the cheapest that XCOM 2 has been available.

In other Humble Bundle news, the site is currently running a Zombie Week promotion. A variety of titles where you can bash in the brains of the undead are on sale. Among the titles on sale are Telltale’s The Walking Dead games, Dead Rising, and Arizona Sunshine. Also included in the sale is the original Killing Floor, the very first game I reviewed for TechRaptor (and indeed, my first ever article for the site). I highly recommend the title (especially at the price of $4.99!)

Will you be grabbing your free copy of X-COM: UFO Defense? What do you think of the original entry in the X-COM series of games? Do you think that games have gotten easier compared to the earlier days of video gaming? Let us know in the comments below!

I've had a controller in my hand since I was 4 and I haven't stopped gaming since. CCGs, Tabletop Games, Pen & Paper RPGs - I've tried a whole bunch of stuff over the years and I'm always looking to try more!
