Yesterday, Humble Bundle launched its newest game jam, Blockjam, and it's now in its second day. The Blockjam supports the Block by Block initiative, which gives poor communities of developing countries the ability to design their own public space using Minecraft; currently, Block by Block works in thirty-five countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America.

For this game jam, Mojang developers are teaming up with fellow designers from Oxeye Game Studio, Microsoft Studios, Ludosity, and Grapefrukt to create a number of new, unusual games for people to play. Exactly how many games are made and what systems they will be made available for is unknown, but all games from this game jam will be DRM-free.

Mojang is hosting a stream on their Twitch channel, which will feature some well-known Minecraft YouTubers - Stampy, StacyPlays, and Sqaishey; additionally, Ludosity and Grapefrukt will be hosting their own game streams. Our readers can view them on their own individual channels or toggle between them on the Humble Bundle Blockjam page at their convenience.

The Humble Bundle Blockjam will run until 12 PM CET on November 10, 2016. At the time of writing this article, a little over seven thousand people have raised a total of $19,550.97 for Block by Block, with average donations being just shy of $3.

Quick Take

This is a pretty great charity to be doing a game jam for, and while I'm not familiar with any of the small development teams taking part in this, their listed works seem intriguing and I can't wait to see what games come from this.
