Io-Interactive is putting the finishing touches to the season finale of the first out of (hoped for) three seasons for the stealthy assassination game featuring everyone's favorite barcoded bald killer. This episode sees players travel Hokkaido, Japan.

This final episode, titled "Situs Invernus" will be put all the skills you've accrued over the course of this season to the test and takes place in a luxurious private hospital and resort.

This secluded facility is a fusion of Japanese beauty and cutting-edge technology, featuring its own Zen gardens, organic sushi restaurant and traditional Japanese hot spring. Agent 47 must locate two targets in this climactic Season Finale.
In the press release, Io-Interactive studio head Hannes Seifert looks back on the production process of HITMAN, which got changed to an episodic model before release:
It was a brave decision to go fully digital episodic with HITMAN, fundamentally changing how we make the game, and for us it has been a major success.

I want to say a big thank you to all the players for making this possible! Together we've built and run the biggest and most replayable locations of any Hitman game and added new live content every single week since launch. And although we’re now completing season one, this is only the beginning for our ever expanding World of Assassination.

While the switch to an episodic format initially got met heavy criticism from fans of the franchise, most people seem to agree that the episodic format works well for the game's set up, with every episode featuring a detailed and sprawling location full of opportunities to kill your targets in exceedingly creative ways.

The final chapter of the first season will become available to players on October 31st.

Quick Take

I think all of this worked out really well for Io-Interactive in the end. The episodic format allowed them to spend more time on each individual level, with every location being filled to the brim with challenges and opportunities. Can't wait for the second season!

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
