Since the introduction of version 2.0 for Blizzard Entertainment’s MOBA Heroes of the Storm, many flocked back to the game due to the promise of a more robust progression system. Version 2.0 introduced a bunch of new skins, mounts and other cosmetics you can earn by playing the game for loot boxes, or just buy them outright. Unfortunately, the new content brought with it some unexpected technical difficulties.
These unexpected technical difficulties hit Heroes of the Storm‘s Mastery Taunts, which are unlocked by leveling a hero up to level 10.
Blizzard Entertainment community manager Spyrian took to the official Heroes of the Storm forum to announce that these mastery taunts will be disabled temporarily while Blizzard works to patch out the issue.
We’re currently investigating an issue in which Hero Mastery taunts can cause players to experience a “Desync!” error while loading into a match. As a result, we will be temporarily disabling Hero Mastery Taunts in order to prevent these errors from occurring while we look into the root cause.
We are working to fix this issue as soon as possible, and apologize for any inconvenience in the meantime. We’ll let you know as soon as Mastery Taunts are re-enabled.
Desyncing occurs when one or more matched players become out of sync with the game server, forcing you to disconnect. A desync error could even prevent you from rejoining the match, getting you slapped around the ears with a leaver penalty in addition to a free loss to screw with your MMR.
Since this bug only occurs with a cosmetic feature, it probably won’t be on top of the team’s priority list. Despite this, the feature probably won’t take long to be reintroduced to the game so you can show off your cool taunts to your heart’s content again!
