Blizzard Entertainment released a preview introducing Heroes of the Storm's new MVP and commendation systems coming in the next big content update.

In a blog post on Battle.net, community manager Ravinix explains what this system is and why the system gets implemented in the popular MOBA game.

At the end of every match, excluding Custom matches, the game will automatically promote a player to MVP based on their performance in the match. All players will be eligible for the title of MVP and Awards, regardless of whether or not they were on the winning team, so be sure to try your hardest in every match to earn your place on the Award screen.

In addition to getting recognition from the other players in their match, Blizzard will also be awarding 4 players in the match for doing specific things, much like the Play of the Game feature from Overwatch. While this new feature won't net you a "real" reward in the form of in-game items like skins or more gold at the end of the match, it will make a great match even better if your actions get commended by your team members.

Commending a team member is as easy as selecting them in the post-game screen and clicking on the up arrow to commend them. If an allied hero gets commended enough, he or she will be "elevated to Epic or Legendary status and may even receive a little extra fanfare".

All in all, it's a nice little feature to have that makes it more attractive to perform to the best of your abilities. Getting a thank you from your team might not seem like much, but nothing is better for your motivation than some additional pomp and circumstance in the post-game.

Heroes of the Storm is Blizzard Entertainment's free to play MOBA featuring characters from the Blizzard Lexicon. Recently, at Gamescom, the big developer announced that an event based on the Starcraft universe will be coming to the game soon, adding new battlegrounds and a new hero based on the sci-fi RTS in addition to adding Zarya from Overwatch.

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
