Heliborne, a helicopter combat game developed by Jetcat Games and published by Klabater, will be releasing on Steam on October 12, 2017, according to a news post on the game's Steam community page.
Helicopters abound in Heliborne, a helicopter combat game with over 40 helicopters from the 1950's all the way up to the modern era. Helicopters are split into three distinct classes, and players will use their whirlybirds to play a number of different types of missions including Skirmish (a "King of the Hill" style of gameplay) and Frontline. In Frontline, players will endeavor to capture bases on the map. Once secured, ground vehicles will spawn at these bases and reinforce critical objectives. The game's recent 0.73 patch added a long-planned progression system, offline mode, and a camouflage system. Alongside these additions were a number of changes to game balance and the UI such as an increase in the spotting range for marking enemy soldiers for door gunners to target.
The game is available in Early Access right now. The transition to a full release version will bring a number of changes including two historical single-player campaigns, several new helicopters, an original soundtrack, and more. The developers state that the full release of the game won't be the end of development - they'll continue to iterate on Heliborne in an effort to "create the best action helicopter game on the market."
