Today, Blizzard announced that Hearthstone will be getting a new mode: Tavern Brawl.  It is not yet available but will be coming in the next patch, patch 2.7, which they say should be arriving mid-June – so that's relatively soon.

Tavern Brawl will pit you against another player and feature some unique set of rules/challenges. Blizzard says sometimes it may be that you both are using preset decks, sometimes there may be rules for what can go in a deck, or maybe some rules will buff certain minion types. They make it sound like it is relatively endless and that Tavern Brawl will not feature any sort of set type of challenge.

It's not known how long a bout of being able to do a Tavern Brawl will last, as Blizzard says that Tavern Brawls will become unavailable for a few days after each one ends to innkeeper can get the inn all tidied up. Tavern Brawls also seem free, at least for launch. The way the announcement words it makes it seem like they will cost money in the future, but at least the first one will be free. This all seems to mean Tavern Brawls will be available for limited periods of time featuring one challenge available to everyone before a new one crops up in a few days.

Magni Bronzebeard will also make an appearance in 2.7 as a new hero for purchase for the Warrior class. These are purely cosmetic and just add a bit of flair, with their own game boards, emotes, animations, and more. They also hinted at two other heroes to come, one Hunter and one Mage, which show the outlines of two well-known characters in the Warcraft franchise. If I had to guess, it must be Sylvanas for Hunters and Medivh for Mages.

Card backs are being moved to the Collection Manager, along with the new Heroes, where you can assign the various card backs you have collected to specific decks.

What do you think of the new Tavern Brawl mode? What sort of challenges would you like to see in Tavern Brawl? Any heroes you'd like to see added to Hearthstone?
