Fortnite Fortnitemares October 2017

Fortnite is getting into the spooky spirit with their upcoming Fortnitemares update according to a news post on the game's official website.

Fortnitemares will be bringing along the introduction of the new Hexsylvania zone for the duration of the event. Players will have 25 Story Quests to work their way through while they fight Halloween-specific enemies such as the Pumpkin Head Husk and Vampire Taker. An announcement trailer accompanied the reveal of the event which shows some of the new weapons and traps in action; take a look at the bad guys getting frozen ice cold and blown to pieces with some weaponized punkin chunkin:

Eight new heroes - one male and one female for each of the game's four classes - will be available for the duration of this Fortnite event. Players will have the opportunity to snap them up by completing quests or getting them in a Spooky Llama. Spooky Llamas can be purchased with Candy earned as you play special missions during the event. The heroes are appropriately costumed in a variety of Halloween tropes:

The Fortnitemares event will showcase a variety of terrifying heroes donning the scariest costumes you can imagine - a mummy, a vampire, and a.... llama?

If you haven't got much time in with the game's Horde Bash event, you have until 4:00 AM Eastern time on Thursday, October 26, 2017. Any existing Scavenger tickets you may be holding onto will be automatically converted into Scavenger Llamas in blocks of 1,000 Tickets; any leftover tickets will disappear. The Fortnitemares event will be launching later on the same day. If you don't yet own the game, it's currently on sale for 40% off direct from Epic Games.

What do you think of the Fortnitemares event? Do you think Fortnite is doing a good job of keeping the game's content fresh and interesting? What do you hope to see done with the game next? Let us know in the comments below!
