We Happy Few, coming from the creators of Contrast, has successfully ended its Kickstarter campaign after reaching $334,754 pledged. This amount exceeded the original goal by enough to reach all but one of its stretch goals. Additional information should be available in the near future in regards to a Paypal campaign to further fund the game and possibly achieve the final stretch goal.

If you have not been keeping up with We Happy Few, it is a procedurally generated world full of Wellies, people using drugs to stay happy, who do not take kindly to Downers, people who are not happy and are not taking these euphoria-inducing drugs. We Happy Few aims to challenge players with the task of fighting, sneaking, or hiding in plain sight until they find a way to escape from Wellington Wells.

Players will take on the role of a Downer trying to escape from the city. The final stretch goal of the campaign would include a Wellie mode, letting players reverse the roles and be a Wellie looking for Downers in hiding, though whether or not this goal will be realized through a Paypal campaign is pending further information.

The stretch goals that have been reached will include craftable drugs the player can use to enhance gameplay, “Authentic English Weather” to include dreary weather effects and authentically pale Wellie adversaries, 20 additional Uncle Jack Shows, and an indefinite Sandbox Mode.

The pre-alpha, available for those who plegded CA$60 (~US$48), is set to be available on July 10th. This pre-alpha will only be available for Windows, but the full release of the game is planned to also be available on Mac and Linux. June 2016 is the estimated date for the final release.

Have you been keeping an eye on We Happy Few? Will you be keeping up with it in the future?
