Sony has taken to YouTube to release a "making of" documentary for the immensely popular PS3 exclusive The Last of Us. It's called Grounded: The Making of The Last of Us.

The documentary follows the development process, going into detail about how ideas came to be and how the development cycle transitioned from Naughty Dog's previous series, Uncharted.

It also sheds light on the many processes of development, and is a must-see for fans of the game, giving unparalleled insight to what many claim to be the best game of 2013.

The whole thing can be seen on YouTube. Clocking in at over an hour and a half, the video is practically feature-length. This is the kind of extra that usually comes with packages such as a deluxe edition version of a game.

This comes after the documentary was previously released for free on Amazon.

I wonder if this is the kind of thing we'll be seeing more of as places like YouTube become more popular for promoting games. Whether it's before or after the fact of game releases, any developer giving insight into the process is interesting to watch, and it's nice to be able to see how a game idea transitions to a blockbuster.

Personally, I'd be fine with many more behind-the-scenes videos for promotion and insight. Check out TechRaptor for more on The Last of Us, including our review.
