Grand Theft Auto Online (the multiplayer component for Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto V) will be having a Halloween event from now until November 16th according to an announcement on Rockstar's website. This event will be for the PC, XBox One, and PS4, but like many recent updates will not hit the last generation of consoles.

There's quite a few treats for players to collect in their proverbial plastic pumpkins this Halloween season. Two specially-themed vehicles are making an apperance. The Lurcher Hearse features skeleton vinyls on the sides and a creepy monster peeking out of the back window. The Franken Stange is a hot rod with flame decals and a notable lack of anything specifically scary as one would expect.

Aside from the vehicles, there is a new Monsters Section in Vespucci Movie Masks as well as 30 new styles of thematically appropriate face paint for the season. Any new items acquired by players during this Grand Theft Auto Online Halloween event will remain in their inventories after the event's conclusion.

What is probably the most interesting addition from this event is a new game mode called Slasher Adversary Mode:

SLASHER ADVERSARY MODE
Enjoy thrills and suspense with the lights out in this tense new Adversary Mode for up to 8 players. Run, hide, and fight to survive in the darkness as the player designated as the Slasher stalks their prey with a Shotgun. Use your new Flashlight to navigate if you dare, but be careful not to reveal your position or you’ll quickly become prey. Survive for 3 minutes and you’ll get the chance to return the favor with a Shotgun of your own.

The Rockstar Broadcast team will be having a livestream of Grand Theft Auto Online on Friday, October 30th at 5PM ET along with some as of yet unannounced special guests.

Do you think the inclusion of seasonal events adds variety to a game, or do you think it's just an easy gimmick? Are you more likely to play Grand Theft Auto Online as a result of this Halloween event? Let us know in the comments below!
