TR Member Perks!

While in the midst of the Festive Surprise 2016Grand Theft Auto Online has announced a new gameplay mode and some additional bonuses for the period of time around Christmas on the Rockstar Newswire.

Starting things off is the introduction of the Comet Retro Custom, a variant on the Pfister Comet that can be acquired through Benny’s Motor Works or through your Executive Garage Custom Auto Shop for GTA$645,000. Performance stats aren’t yet available from third-party sources, but the gearheads at the GTA Wiki have noted that it appears to be a combination of the RWB Porsche 993 with some influences from the 1970s Porsche 911S.

Players who are out to earn a little more money can have a go at the new Juggernaut mode which is awarding double GTA$ and RP until January 1, 2017. In this new Adversary Mode, two teams each have a heavily armed and armored Juggernaut along with other players in less hardy equipment as support. The goal is to take out the opposing team’s Juggernaut while protecting your own.

If you’re not particularly interested in getting the new car or playing the new gameplay mode right now, you might want to log into the game on Christmas Day at the very least. Players will get a bunch of free stuff simply for logging in on December 25th:

  • Unicorn Mask
  • Set of Pajamas (Either White Graphic or Blue Check)
  • Fireworks Launcher plus 10 Fireworks rockets
  • Carbine Rifle plus 200 rounds of Ammo
  • Marksman Rifle plus 200 rounds of Ammo
  • Basic Knuckle Dusters
  • 25 Sticky Bombs
  • 25 Grenades
  • 5 Proximity Mines
  • 5 Molotovs
  • Full Snacks
  • Full Armor

If you can’t quite make it on Christmas Day, you’ll still be able to pick up a Fireworks launcher, 10 Fireworks rockets, and an Event Tee of Rockstar’s choice by logging on from December 23-25, 2016.

Finally, there will be 50% more in-game cash earned from Vehicle Exports, Biker Business Sales, and Special Cargo Deliveries. If you’re out to make a little cash to do some virtual holiday shopping in GTA Online, now’s the time! Have fun in (temporarily) snowy Los Santos!

What do you think of what’s on offer for Christmas in Grand Theft Auto Online this year? Is it enough to get you to log in when you might otherwise be playing the new games you’ve picked up during the various ongoing holiday sales at gaming sites? What do you hope to see in the game for the new year? Let us know in the comments below!

I've had a controller in my hand since I was 4 and I haven't stopped gaming since. CCGs, Tabletop Games, Pen & Paper RPGs - I've tried a whole bunch of stuff over the years and I'm always looking to try more!
