A Hat In Time is among the many fine titles available at a discount in this week’s GOG Weekly Sale according to a news post on the digital game distributor’s website.

GOG Weekly Sales are exactly what it says on the tin – a weeklong event where a number of DRM-free games are available on GOG at a discount. These sales typically feature a mix of games both old & new across a variety of genres. This week’s sale has a particular focus on action & platformer games. Have a look at some of our favorites of the bunch!

Disclosure: GOG works with TechRaptor for affiliate partnership, and TechRaptor earns a small commission off purchases made from links in this article. In addition, GOG provides a monthly giveaway to our Pack Hunter members.

Cryptark is a game that begins with an excellent sci-fi premise – you’re a privateer out to explore mysterious alien ships for fun & profit. Use over 70 different weapons to explore these alien arks for treasure in this procedurally-generated roguelike, but be careful – the ships are all too happy to fight back. Cryptark can be bought for $5.24 – a 65% discount.

In Freedom Planet (Our Review), you’ll play as a cute dragon girl and her friends as you romp across the world fighting terrible alien forces with platformer gameplay. Speedrun through the levels to go for the best score, or take your time and search for secrets buried all around you. Freedom Planet is discounted 50% to $7.49.

A Hat In Time (Our Review) is a throwback to the classic 3D platformers full of collectibles and quirky characters like Banjo Kazooie. While some of the revivals in this genre haven’t quite done as well as hoped, A Hat In Time has generally been well-received. You’ll be playing Hat Kid, a kid with a hat who is trying to recover the Time PIeces so she can hop back into her ship and fly away from a planet filled with all sorts of weird creatures. The game is discounted 25% off – that means you can pick it up for a cool $22.49. You can also grab the game’s soundtrack for $7.49 at a similar discount.

Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee is a surreal game where you play Abe, a Mudokon floor-waxer working for RuptureFarms. You learn of a plot to turn your (and your friends!) into food, so it’s up to you to save everyone in a world where you heavily outgunned by everyone else. This classic platformer can be snapped up at a 75% discount for just $1.49. Some of the sequel games like Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus are up for grabs, too!

gog weekly sale steamworld dig 2 4 3 2018

Steamworld Dig 2 is one of many fine titles in the GOG Weekly Sale.

SteamWorld Dig 2 (Our Review) is a game that’s all about digging & exploration. Delve into the deepest parts of the underground, gather up precious loot, upgrade your gear, and fight all sorts of nasty baddies that want to stop you from taking everything that isn’t nailed down. SteamWorld Dig 2 is 25% off at $14.99 and you can also get the soundtrack for a similarly-discounted $7.49. The first SteamWorld Dig (Our Review) is an even better deal at $5.00 (50% off!), and you can buy all of the games in a bundle if that’s how you want to roll.

Rogue Legacy is a game that you just might enjoy. This permadeath roguelite platformer has you exploring a castle that changes every time you play, but it’s very unlikely that you’ll survive your first time through. Each death will be avenged by one of your heirs who will have hopefully invested your earnings into better equipment for future generations of your adventurous family. It’s practically a steal at $3.74, a 75% discount.

In a similarly-challenging vein, Volgarr The Viking is almost as harsh as actual Viking culture. You’ll travel across the land smashing up enemies straight out of the halls of fantasy literature, but be careful – a single hit will knock away a valuable piece of armor. Once you’re down to your skivvies, you’re all but toast in this brutally-unforgiving platformer. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart! If you have a warrior spirit burning within you, you can get Volgarr The Viking for just $1.99, 80% off its retail price.

World to the West is the final title we’ll be highlighting this time around. A standalone follow-up to Teslagrad, you can play as one of four different heroes in this action-adventure platformer. You’ll be exploring the secrets of an ancient civilization as you try to escape a dark prophecy that looms overhead. Each of the game’s characters has their own unique abilities, motivations, and storylines for you to explore. World to the West is discounted 40% to $11.99.

I've had a controller in my hand since I was 4 and I haven't stopped gaming since. CCGs, Tabletop Games, Pen & Paper RPGs - I've tried a whole bunch of stuff over the years and I'm always looking to try more!
