Google has unveiled the 2015 Nexus lineup — a Nexus 5X made by LG and a Nexus 6P made by Huawei. Both devices will ship with Android 6.0 “Marshmallow”, and will be Google’s flagship devices to show off new features. The Nexus 5X will cater to low-cost options, and the Nexus 6P to premium options.

The Nexus 6P is the bigger and more premium of the pair. In a first for a Nexus device, it features an all metal body that comes in white, silver, and black. It will feature a 5.7” 1440p AMOLED screen, a Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB RAM, 3450mAh battery, and 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB capacities.

The Nexus 5X is similar to the original Nexus 5, hitting a lower price point while retaining some premium features. The Nexus 5X sports a 5.2” 1080p screen, Snapdragon 808 processor, 2GB RAM, 2700mAh battery, and 16GB and 32GB capacities. It will come in black, white, and light blue.

Notably, both devices feature fingerprint readers and USB Type-C connections. The fingerprint readers are both on the back of the devices, similar to the original Motorola Atrix. USB Type-C is the new reversible connector, and will support faster data transfer speeds and faster charging. Marshmallow is the first version of Android to officially have an API for fingerprint authentication, though phones such as the original Motorola Atrix and Samsung Galaxy S5 have had fingerprint readers for the lock screen. This new API will allow for standardization of authentication in the lock screen, Android Pay, and other apps, similar to iOS.

Both devices will support all four major US Carriers (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile), as well as Google’s own Project Fi, a low cost cell service. Google is also introducing Nexus Protect, an extended warranty that covers both mechanical issues as well as accidental damage. Nexus Protect will cost $89 on the 6P and $69 on the 5X.

Both devices are available for preorder starting today. The Nexus 6P can be preordered here and the Nexus 5X can be preordered here.
