GOG.com has introduced the GOG Wallet feature to their website according to an announcement on their forums.

The GOG Wallet can be accessed by going to gog.com/wallet. Customers can add funds in amounts ranging from $5 to $500 or your regional equivalent. The funds from the wallet will be withdrawn anytime you make a purchase on GOG.com. Unlike gift cards or prepaid debit cards, funds in the wallet will never expire.

The wallet can hold a maximum of $500 in funds according to the FAQ on the feature and a maximum for $1,000 in purchases per day can be made with wallet funds. Wallet funds in and of themselves are not refundable, but any purchases made with wallet funds and subsequently returned will have the refund sent back to the wallet.

Adding funds to your GOG Wallet requires that two-step login is enabled in the account settings page. This two-factor authentication process will send a four-digit code to the e-mail address associated with your account. Two-step login will only require the additional check when you log in to your account from a new browser, device, or location in a fashion similar to Steam Guard.

The service was launched as a convenience for people who would be subject to international banking fees or other surcharges when making payments on the store. Much like Steam's version of the service, if you're short on wallet funds you can make up the difference with another form of payment. GOG.com also points to the convenience of being able to control the spending budget for kids or young adults without having to give them access to a credit card.

Additionally, GOG has a "fair price package" feature on some games that results in a discount for certain titles that have higher region-based pricing. Any store credit earned through this program will now automatically be dispersed to your GOG Wallet.
