Today Gigabyte, in partnership with Carri Systems, has released its latest GPU computing server, the G210-H4G.

The unit is a 2U rack-mountable system consisting of 4 blades that can each house either a Haswell i3 processor or a Xeon CPU from the E3-1200 V3 series, and select cards from Nvidia's GRID and Tesla product lines or an AMD FirePro S9150, the top professional GPU from the red house.

Seeing as the user can install i3 and Xeon CPUs, it comes as no surprise that both ECC and non-ECC UDIMMs are supported, up to 16GB per blade at a maximum frequency of 1600MHz.

Data storage is handled by 4 hot-swappable 2.5" SATA3 slots that can use both HDDs and SSDs, and the GPU itself is located in a specially designed PCI 3.0 16x slot which can house cards up to 267mm in length and with a TDP of up to 300W.

As for external connectors, each blade has two front USB 3.0 and two rear USB 2.0 ports, one front and one rear VGA ports, two rear Gigabit Ethernet connectors, and one rear Serial port. The backplane itself sports four SATA3 connectors.

Power delivery is handled by two redundant 80+ Platinum 1600W PSUs, which support grid voltages from 100V up to 230V.

The officially supported operating systems are Windows Server 2008 R2 and 2012 R2 (both x64 only,) RHEL 5.9 and 6.4 (x86/x64,) SUSE Linux 11.3 (x86/x64,) and VMwareESXi 5.0 / 5.1 / 5.1 U1 / 5.1 U2.

The stated targets for this server are virtual desktops running graphics intensive applications and cloud gaming.
