Mage Knight is a board game published by Wizkids that mixes some elements of deck building and RPG with the option for the players to play competitively, cooperatively or even solo. As fellow raptor Travis Williams notes in his review, “Although quite complex Mage Knight is one of the best, if not the best, solo game on the market. Mage Knight is also an excellent co-op or competitive game.” This already rich game has now become even richer. Today, the 3rd expansion for Mage Knight, named Shades of Tezla, has been released at Gen Con 2015.
This new expansion will revolve around Tezla, a powerful mage whose death sparked a war between two factions – The Elementalists and The Dark Crusaders – that claim his legacy. The expansion introduces new scenarios for solo, competitive and cooperative play as long as a new playable Mage Knight: Braevalar the druid. Braelavar’s powers will most likely revolve around natural magic and abilities to take advantage of the terrain.
