After an instore lineup to preorder the retro Amiibo 3-pack, GameStop has surprisingly started taking online preorders, meaning for once that a new Amiibo wasn't sold out the instant it appeared. The line up in this pack includes Nintendo classics R.O.B., Mr. Game & Watch, and Duck Hunt's Dog & Duck.

Nintendo's money printing plastic game add-ons have been in high demand and short supply since the first ones left the factory in June of 2014, consistently falling short of consumer demand.

This retro 3-pack carries a retail price of 34.99 USD (or 44.99 CAD) for the classic characters and Smash Bros competitors Mr. Game and Watch and the Duck Hunt Dog & Duck as well the spiritual predecessor to the Amiibo the NES' Robotic Operating Buddy.

The Duck Hunt dog became famous by infuriating children of the 80s; laughing when the player would miss a shot in the NES title Duck Hunt.

Game & Watch was a line of handheld games that pre-dated the gameboy by years, the first of which released in 1980. Game & Watch units also pioneered a dual screen display which was later a key feature of Nintendo's DS and 3DS handhelds. Using early 80s LCD displays, the graphics needed to be as simple as possible. Mr. Game & Watch was later created for Smash Bros. Melee as an homage to these early systems and their characters.

The R.O.B. (Robotic Operating Buddy) was an accessory for the original NES. Compatible with only two games, R.O.B. was included to market the NES as a toy due to the crash of 1983 tainting the name "video game" in many peoples eyes. Though R.O.B. was not a large part of the NES' lifecycle, nostalgia has led to his cameo inclusion in many games: WarioWare, F-Zero, Kirby & Smash Bros.

These 3 retro Amiibo are all compatible with Super Smash Bros for WiiU and will be released on the 25th of September, 2015. If they will work with any other titles is as of yet unknown as the official Amiibo compatibility chart has not been updated to include them.
