TR Member Perks!

A bit earlier than expected but this morning Xbox Live’s Major Nelson announced via his blog the new titles that would be coming to Games with Gold for Xbox One and Xbox 360 this July. The way that things work have changed a bit though as now instead of Xbox One games being available all month they now fall into a different timing pattern, this month one is available for the entire month and the other is available for a month starting midway. A new addition is also that every month instead of just getting one new Xbox One game gamers will be getting two new free Xbox One games.

GWG July 2015 One

For the Xbox One from the 1st of July up until the 31st then gold members will be able to download Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag completely free. In this game you play as Edward Kenway, grandfather of Connor Kenway, a privateer turned pirate who stumbles into the secret war between Assassins and Templars. Explore towns on islands and breathtaking open seas as you sail from location to location getting into all manners of pirate trouble. If you want a fantastic pirate game then this is the one for you. The second title being released is So Many Me a puzzle platformer that tries to combine classic platforming with managing all of the different clones that you currently have. You’ll get to travel through worlds discovering new transformations, ride monsters, fight bosses and earn rewards for each puzzle that you are able to complete. So Many Me will be available from the 16th of July up until August 15th.

GWG July 2015 360

For the Xbox 360 this month from the 1st of July to the 15th the classic Plants vs Zombies XBLA title will be free. For those of you who aren’t aware of this franchise you have to set up and place flowers in this tower defense game to stop the oncoming zombie horde from reaching your house. With the help of Crazy Dave you will get all kinds of new plants and upgrades to help hold back the undead foe. Finally the last title for the month is Gears of War 3 which will be available from the 16th of July until the end of the month. Witness the end of the original Gears of War trilogy as you reunite with the COGs and continue the fight against the Locust Horde.

It serves to also question whether the inclusion of Gears of War 3 for this month and Gears of War 3 being the 7th most requested title for backward compatibility is mere coincidence. With no news yet on when more titles are going to be added to the current list Gears of War 3 might be added very shortly.

What do you think of the game selection this month? Are you happy with the changes that are being made? Do you think we might start seeing GWG being added to backwards compatibility?

I have been playing all kinds of games for as long as I can remember with a particular interest in action adventure and platforming titles. While I am primarily an Xbox gamer I also spend a fair bit of time on the PS4 and on my PC in VR.
