April is just around the corner and with that fans and subscribers of the Xbox Games with Gold program have been surprised by Microsoft that Games with Gold for April will give players six free games instead of three. The program will still follow the same timeline of all month availability on Xbox One and there being a different game for the first and second half of the month on the Xbox 360 but there will be two games free to download during those periods.
First up on the Xbox One gamers will be treated to Child of Light and Pool Nation FX, and they will be available as of the 1st of April all the way through to the end of the month. Child of Light is a game where you play as the daughter of duke who gets transported to a mysterious world called Lemuria. Here she is identified as the titular Child of Light and it is up to her save the sun, moon and the stars and defeat the Queen of Darkness.
Second up for the Xbox One is Pool Nation FX, a new take on billiards boasting photo realistic graphics, an incredible physics engine, trickshot editor and even rule customization tools. It will also have online multiplayer so you can play with fiends, or rivals, online.
For the Xbox 360 the first two games that will be available from the 1st of April to the 15th are Gears of War: Judgement and Terraria. In Gears of War you get to go back in time to the immediate aftermath of Emergence Day, the day that began the events of the Gears of War franchise and follow Kilo Squad as they try to survive against new enemies. Judgement also has two squad based multiplayer modes, OverRun and Survival that you can enjoy with your friends.
Terraria is a bit of a step away from Gears of War in this rogue-like sandbox game. Working on a 2D plane you interact with the worlds digging, crafting, building and fighting to make the world yours. You can also work with, or against friend in Terraria to fight each other or against the larger than life bosses.
On the 16th of April Terraria and Gears of War will go back to their regular prices and instead Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel and Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag will become free for Xbox Gold subscribers. In the Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel you and a friend get pitted against a drug cartel called La Guadana through a series of missions. This game focuses on the idea of coop game play so be sure to bring a friend to the party!
If you want to get out and set sail on the seven seas then Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag puts you in the shoes of the pirate Edward Kenway as you find yourself caught in the middle of the war between Assassins and Templars. Black Flag adds onto the popular franchise by adding ship-to-ship combat as well as allowing the players to explore a large area of the Caribbean.
