While they're most well know for their Sherlock Holmes games, Frogwares has announced they're working on something new: an open world investigative adventure game with heavy Lovecraftian influences called The Sinking City.

Stating their plans to create bigger, better games, Frogwares has announced they wanted to do something a little different from their usual adventure game stuff. While they haven't announced much more about The Sinking City just yet, we won't have to wait long to see it. Frogwares states that they'll be showing a demo of the game off at the upcoming GDC.

In their announcement, Frogwares also states that they have a long time love and respect for H.P. Lovecraft and the Cthulhu Mythos. This isn't their first time entering this mythos, as Frogwares has already devoted several games to it. In 2007 they released Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened, an adventure game classic that saw Sherlock Holmes stopping a cult in attempting to summon "The One" from the ocean. In 2013 they also released Magrunner: Dark Pulse, a first person puzzle game that mixed both cyberpunk elements and the Cthulhu Mythos. Frogwares was also supposed to be the original developers for the upcoming Call of Cthulhu - The Video Game but they were replaced by Cyanide Studios.

The Sinking City

Besides The Sinking City, Frogwares is also currently working on Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter. To go with this announcement, Frogwares has also made 2012's The Testament of Sherlock Holmes available for free for anyone who has bought The Sherlock Holmes Collection on Steam. Xbox One owners with a Gold Xbox Live subscription should also look into grabbing Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments through Microsoft's Games With Gold program. It's available until March 31st.

The Sinking City currently does not have a release date, price point, or set release platforms. Going by Frogware's current track record you can probably expect it to release on PC and current generation consoles. More may be revealed at the upcoming Game Developers Conference.
