Former professional gaming team, Vulcun is starting a new enterprise in the world of eSports.

The ex-League of Legends team has started a new fantasy eSports website for League of Legends. Vulcan is also offering a hefty $250,000 prize pool for League of Legends spectators.

The endeavor was founded by the owners of Team Vulcun, Ali Moiz and Murtaza Hussain. The pair has earned $1.3 million in funding from several investor groups, such as eVentures and 500Startups, to finance this fantasy draft.

Previously, Team Vulcun finished second at the Season 3 NA LCS Summer split in 2013. Team Vulcun also was one of four teams representing the United States at the 2013 World Championships, finishing 12th out of the fourteen teams.

The rules of this fantasy pool are similar to other fantasy drafts, such as football. During the upcoming League Championship Series, spectators will draft a team using registered participants in the series. The teams all have a "salary cap" to build their team, meaning the best players in League of Legends will be more expensive to draft.

Currently, there is both a free and paid content draft for spectators to participate in. All challenges are still in a closed beta at this time.

Fantasy Sports has become a growing phenomenon within the sporting world. Just last year fantasy sports giant DraftKings was expected to pay out close to $200 million in prizes, and had at least ten winners become millionaires during the 2014-2015 football season. DraftKings has also made roughly $30 million in revenue for 2014, according to some analysts.

Team Vulcun is hoping to emulate the excitement of fantasy sports in a different arena. While the prize pool is only $250,000, Vulcun is hoping for a larger pool, one exceeding $1 million, for the future of this fantasy draft.

The next season for the 2015 League Championship Series begins on January 22nd, so if you want to get in on the ground floor, now is the time to sign up through the beta.
