Miga Games will be releasing an indie immersive sim called HEVN on Friday, September 7. It’s a “single-player first-person sci-fi adventure” and has been said to be System Shock 2 flavored. Its gameplay will involve exploration, puzzles, and action, similar to Irrational's classic title.

The game is set in 2128. You play as Sebastian Mar, who leaves an earth beset with problems, like overpopulation and a hot climate, for a better life on a distant, isolated planetoid called “Naic.” There, he’ll be part of a mining expedition, working for Nomoni Incorporated. Apparently, he'll find more than he bargained for.

There’s been an accident at the mining facility. Seismic activity and storms wreak the planetoid's surface. There's an AI and several droids to aid Sebastian, but he's ultimately on his own. The game’s story will involve sci-fi plot twists and terrifying revelations. The gameplay will be difficult: you’ll need to take medications as part of your survival, and the game will trace not only your health but also your fatigue and mental state. Meanwhile, the environment will be open, immersive and home to several interactable objects and machines.

This release will have had feedback incorporated based on a public beta demo from 2017. Since then, the devs have been refining the mechanics, balance, and overall look. This official version will release on Steam.

An indie first-person immersive game is intriguing and will complement Otherside Entertainment's Underworld Ascendant. That game, too, will involve exploration, puzzles, and combat, and be part of the long line of first-person immersive titles that System Shock comes from. It also releases this September.

Does a first-person immersive indie game sound interesting to you? Would you purchase this over Underworld Ascendant? Did you play the public beta in 2017? Let us know in the comments section below!
