Every month Sony puts six games up on the Instant Game Collection, allowing PlayStation Plus users to download them free of charge so long as they keep paying for the service. While usually we don't find out about the games until the end of the month, it seems we're figuring out one of the games a little early.

PlayStation 4 users who pre-ordered upcoming multiplayer twin-stick shooter Dead Star were surprised to receive a message on their PlayStations telling them that their order was refunded. The reason why? It seems that Dead Star will be one of the PlayStation Plus games available at the start of April.

Dead Star is an upcoming 10v10 competitive multiplayer twin stick shooter being developed by Armature, who is also currently working on ReCore for the Xbox One. The game will see users piloting spaceships against each other in an effort to escape from a dying solar system and it's shortly supernovaing star. Dead Star also features highly customizable ships and randomized maps for added replay value.

Dead Star will be launching as a PlayStation Plus game, but it's not the first game to do so. Past titles like Dragon Fin SoupHardware: Rivals and Rocket League also debuted as Ps+ games. It's also not the first competitive twin stick shooter going through Ps+, as it was beat out in 2014 by Secret Ponchos (also a game that launched straight into Ps+).

While we don't know the full lineup right now, there's no doubt Sony will announce more upcoming April Ps+ games in the future. In the meantime, you can grab the current batch of games: Broforce and Galak-Z: The Dimensional for the Ps4, Flame Over and Reality Fighters for the Vita, and Super Stardust HD and The Last Guy for the Ps3.

Dead Star will launch April 5th for the PlayStation 4 and PC for the price of $19.99 for non-Ps+ users.

What are your thoughts on this? Was Dead Star a good choice? Would you have wanted something else? What about Knack and Killzone? Let us know in the comments!
