Yesterday to many fans excitement Square Enix and NVIDIA announced that the latest game in the main line of Final Fantasy titles will be coming to Steam under the title Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition. Embark on a journey as Prince Noctis of Lucis and his entourage as you travel across the world of Eos. Along this journey, you will encounter all kinds of strange beasts and terrifying foes. As your journey begins you plan to meet with your bride to be, Princess Lunafreya, but as political strife escalates you find it's up to you to protect your homeland.

Players of the Windows Edition of Final Fantasy XV will not only be able to experience all of Prince Noctis' journey but will have the added benefits of enhanced particle effects, dynamic hair and fur, realistic shadows, and added light effects. For those wanting to re-experience their adventure Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition will also support NVIDIA Ansel allowing you to capture an in-game photo that can then be viewable with a smartphone, on your desktop, or with a VR headset. Users will also be able to use ShadowPlay Highlights to capture gameplay footage as videos or screenshots allowing you to share them through social channels.

Some other noteworthy features that will be included in the PC release are an optional first person mode and mod support. Mod support at this time is still in early development and Square Enix still isn't sure if mod support will be included at the time of Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition's release or whether it will be added in post-launch.

When speaking on the subject Hajime Tabata, the Director of Final Fantasy XV had the following to say on the partnership:

With the help of NVIDIA, we are creating a stunning visual experience in FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION, one worthy of this beloved franchise, NVIDIA pushes the pace of innovation in our industry, and that benefits gamers and developers alike.
This Windows Edition will also contain all of the free and paid DLC that has already been released for Final Fantasy XV ensuring that you have access to all of the content from the moment it launches. While you can't pre-order the game yet the steam page for Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition is already live. At this time minimum and recommended specs are still to be confirmed. What do you think of Final Fantasy XV finally coming to PC? Do you think it has been too long since the original release? If you own it for console do you think you will purchase it again for PC?

Update: After the initial announcement of the 170GB file size for Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition Tabata has confirmed in an interview with Kotaku that this file size was a mistake. Due to the game being developed at a higher end not only will the minimum and recommended specs be revealed at a later date but so will the finished file size.
