Square Enix really wasn't kidding when it said we're getting two more years of Final Fantasy XV content. The game, a mostly single-player JRPG that's nearly two years old, is back in the spotlight once again. The developer has revealed that a Final Fantasy XV Special Program will go live on Nov. 7 to celebrate the game's two-year anniversary.
The video will be streamed live on YouTube and will be in Japanese with subtitles for a worldwide audience. It's an oddly Nintendo-like move from Square Enix, as this program will be pre-recorded, not live. Viewers can expect updates on Final Fantasy XV's next two years of content as well as any initiatives the developers have planned for the anniversary.
In the past two years, Square Enix has released continuous support for Final Fantasy XV, including four expansions that mostly focused on the other characters in the party. Additionally, the game received a PC port after being a console exclusive for a year and a half. There have been multiple spin-off mobile games and a flurry of free updates inspired by titles like Assassin's Creed and Tomb Raider.
In April of this year, Square Enix laid out a road map of future content, highlighting three new full-fledged episodes and one "side story." These are all slated to come out in the first half of 2019 and highlight Ardyn, Aranea, Lunafreya, and Noctis. It's likely we'll see updates about these episodes on Tuesday's special program, along with potentially what might be coming after.
